A GEOLOGICAL FOUNDATION
In 1992, the founder of Gemstone was on a mission to create a vineyard that defied uniformity. A place where the unconventional wasn't just welcomed but celebrated in every block, clone, and vine. After years of searching, and leaning on his expertise in geology,
he found a perfect place to realize this dream: a prime 16-acre plot in Yountville on alluvial deposits.
UNEARTHING A HIDDEN GEM
From the very beginning, the founder saw a hidden gem — a place of possibility waiting to be transformed. The vineyard was christened Gemstone to reflect the care and intention they knew this plot was worthy of.
CONVENTIONAL DOESN'T CUT IT
PLANTED IN SMALL, DISTINCT VINEYARD BLOCKS, THE CLONES REFLECT THE RAW BEAUTY OF A GEMSTONE PULLED FROM THE EARTH – FULL OF POTENTIAL AND RIPE FOR POLISHING.
WHILE OTHER VINEYARDS FOLLOWED CONVENTION, GEMSTONE CHOSE A DIFFERENT PATH
From the north-south layout, to the rare selection of clones, to the rocky terroir forcing the vines to concentrate their flavors, every detail of Gemstone goes against the grain. This intention to carving an unconventional path drives home the main message of Gemstone: extraordinary wines come from extraordinary places — when we dare to let them.
